Long ago, when Earth was headed toward a meteor strike, the legendary Pokémon Arceus used its power to stop the catastrophe. The act dispersed the sixteen Plates that surrounded it, scattering them across the globe. Deprived of the Plates" life‑fuel, Arceus began to wither; its luminous glow faded and the land around it grew barren. A man named Damon found one of the Plates and returned it, reviving the dying Pokémon. In gratitude, Arceus forged the Jewel of Life and entrusted it to the citizens of Michina Town, demanding its return. The townsfolk rejected this condition and kept the Jewel for themselves, fearing its power and keeping it secret. During the ensuing clash, Damon was slain and Arceus fell into a deep sleep, swearing to strike humanity when it awakes.
Satoshi and his allies reach Michina Town, where they meet Sheena, a descendant of Damon. She claims to hold the Jewel of Life and vows to guard it until Arceus can be appeased, planning to return it when the legendary Pokémon awakens.
Yet, even with Sheena"s efforts, Arceus remains displeased. Its rage continues to ripple through time, distorting reality and provoking the Legendary trio—Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina—and upsetting the planet"s equilibrium, threatening to unravel the world"s balance. Satoshi must now avert the annihilation of all humans.
