Thirty thousand players from Japan and many more from around the world suddenly found themselves trapped in the massively multiplayer online role‑playing game "Legend of the Ancients." On one hand, gamers were physically transported into a new world; the illusion of reality turned out to be almost flawless. On the other hand, the transferred kept their previous avatars and acquired skills, the user interface and progression system, and death in the game merely led to resurrection at the cathedral of the nearest major city. Realizing that there was no grand purpose and no price for escape had been announced, players began to band together – some to live and rule by the law of the jungle, others to oppose lawlessness. Siroe and Naotsugu, a student and a clerk in the real world, are a cunning mage and a mighty warrior in the game; they had known each other long ago through the legendary guild "Mad Tea Party." Alas, those times are gone forever, but in this new reality one can still meet old acquaintances and simply good guys with whom it will not be boring. And most importantly, the world of "Legend" has native inhabitants who consider the newcomers great and immortal heroes. One inevitably wants to become a knight of the Round Table, slaying dragons and rescuing girls. Well, there are plenty of girls around, monsters and bandits too, and for rest there are cities like the hospitable Akiba. The main point – dying in the game is still not worth it; it's far better to live like a human!
