After concluding his Hoenn expedition, Satoshi heads to the Sinnoh region for the next chapter on his quest to become a Pokémon Master. As soon as he arrives, Team Rocket attempts once more to capture Pikachu, but the plan fails again. Yet Pikachu has slipped deep into a forest, and it is Satoshi's task to locate him. Along the way he reunites with Takeshi, a breeder he has journeyed with across many regions, and encounters his future rival Shinji—a trainer obsessed with power who shows little regard for his Pokémon's well‑being.
Continuing the search, Satoshi spots a powerful electric burst far off and moves toward it to find Pikachu alongside Team Rocket and Hikari, a rookie trainer dreaming of becoming the premier Pokémon coordinator. After thwarting Team Rocket's scheme, Satoshi reunites with Pikachu and Hikari joins their party. Thus begins the adventure of Satoshi and his companions through the thrilling land of Sinnoh.
