A decade after the xxxHOLiC Shunmuki events, the once‑sad Kimihiro Watanuki now manages the shop that Yuuko had previously owned, honoring a vow he made to her. He shares his home with Maru, Moro, and Mokona, enjoying a peaceful life, while familiar companions occasionally visit: Shizuka Doumeki, once an adversary now a loyal ally, and former psychic prodigy Kohane Tsuyuri. As Kohane pursues folklore studies under Doumeki at university, they stumble upon a mystery ideally suited for the shop"s proprietor.
Soon, Watanuki is approached by Doumeki's grandfather Haruka, who asks him to probe his grandson"s dreams. Inside the dreamscape, Watanuki sees their earlier exploits from Doumeki"s viewpoint, revealing truths from ten years past and hidden bonds that strengthen their friendship. Their shared history, once clouded by misunderstandings, now glows with clarity. The shop"s quiet hum serves as a backdrop for these revelations.
