After Armageddon and the ensuing apocalyptic war, humanity confronts a fresh threat: vampires. Ongoing clashes between the two species have fractured the globe into distinct camps. The vampire kin, known as Methuselah, align with the New Human Empire; humans, referred to by vampires as Terrans, constitute the Vatican Papal State. Extremist factions such as the Rosenkreuz Order seek to reignite hostilities, even as the main groups try to steer clear of open warfare.
To counter terrorist cells, the Vatican established the AX unit. Under Cardinal Caterina Sforza"s leadership, AX operatives probe vampire‑linked disturbances, hoping that one day Terrans and Methuselah can coexist peacefully. Among them is priest Abel Nightroad—a seemingly confused but kind soul who, on the battlefield, proves a ruthless vampire hunter. His partner in the unit is agent Sister Esther Blanchett, a courageous and gentle novice nun haunted by a tragic past.
