Boogiepop, a whispered shinigami, is believed to stalk places where sight fails. Five years earlier, a series of brutal killings rattled the community, and pupils blamed some of these slaughters on the cited death deity. When uncanny events once more disrupt the lives of those at Hijiridani High and Shinyo Academy, murmurs about the mysterious Boogiepop resurface. The tales recounted may hold fragments of truth, or perhaps reality is far more perilous than we once imagined in the shadows of our world.
