Regarded as the third entry in the widely acclaimed When They Cry franchise by 07th Expansion, Umineko no Naku Koro ni unfolds on Rokkenjima island, the domain of the fabulously affluent Ushiromiya clan. Every year, all relatives convene on the island for a meeting that reviews each member"s present financial standing. Due to the patriarch"s deteriorating health, this year"s agenda centers on the succession of his fortune and its allocation. Unbeknownst to the family, the allocation of assets is only a minor concern for Ushiromiya Kinzou (the head) at this gathering. After his close physician friend informs him that his time is limited, Kinzou yearns to see his true love one final time: the Golden Witch, Beatrice. Having devoted many later years to occult arts, he orchestrates a rite aimed at resurrecting his beloved as the clan arrives on Rokkenjima. Shortly thereafter, a fierce typhoon isolates the island and a series of enigmatic killings begins, compelling the eighteen inhabitants to battle for survival in a lethal clash between illusion and reality. The relatives, however, remain oblivious to Kinzou"s deeper motives and the ominous forces at play. As the storm rages, secrets begin to surface, threatening to unravel the bonds among kin. No one can predict the outcome.
