Tokyo is besieged by a malevolent menace: flesh‑eating 'ghouls' that look exactly like ordinary people and slip into the city"s streets unnoticed. A withdrawn university pupil, Ken Kaneki, hides behind his studies and ignores the escalating horror reported in the media. One day an alluring girl named Rize Kamishiro breaks his isolation by boldly inviting him out for a date. While escorting her back, Kaneki realizes she was never gentle; she lured him with hidden malice. After a brutal confrontation, he wakes in a hospital where doctors reveal his life was preserved by grafting Rize"s dead organs into him. His body begins to warp in terrifying ways, turning him into a human‑ghoul hybrid. As he faces this grim new reality, Kaneki fights to keep his humanity amid the bloody clash between society"s emerging monsters and the state agents hunting them.
