Magic File 2 was sold at selected outlets (7‑11 style chains) in Japan, together with PPV installments of the series (episodes that had been released earlier, like the NY example). The first disc contained the Movie 12 Side‑Story OVA, featuring Kudou Shinichi and revealing a fragment of the background for the forthcoming film. The second disc carried the PPV episodes.
