In the cosmos, Beerus, the God of Destruction, rouses from a prolonged sleep having dreamed of a being called the Super Saiyan God. Assisted by Whis, Beerus searches for this formidable entity, eager to test his strength against a worthy challenger. Discovering that the Saiyan home world was annihilated, he hunts the surviving Saiyans on Earth, zeroing in on Gokuu.
