Gintoki and his Yorozuya companions—Shinpachi, Kagura, and the rest of the crew who endure constant labor abuse—keep surviving in Edo"s neon‑lit, extraterrestrial metropolis and its ever‑shifting, cyberpunk skyline and hope. They accept any odd job that comes their way, steering clear of missions that could endanger them while always keeping a wary eye on the looming threats from rogue factions. Yet when Katsura, the Joui insurgents" chief and a longtime ally of Gintoki, vanishes after a vicious hit by an unknown killer, Shinpachi and Kagura launch their own probe into his disappearance and the attacker"s identity. Meanwhile, Gintoki takes on a seemingly unrelated assignment: blacksmith Tetsuya asks him to retrieve the stolen, otherworldly blade known as the Benizakura.
As both inquiries converge, the Yorozuya find themselves entangled in a vast plot revolving around the deadly nature of the Benizakura. Gintoki decides to confront the enemy"s stronghold head‑on, and with a handful of unlikely comrades, embarks on one of his most dangerous missions yet.
