After the clash with Doakuder in Soukaizan (the alternate realm where the rainbow vanished due to the devils), a demon from the abyss arrived in Genseikai (the human realm) and seized Wataru's conscience, leaving him adrift in the shadowed plains of destiny. Consequently, his sense of justice and recollections as Kyuuseishu (world savior) disappeared. When Shibaraku and Himiko transported him back to Shinbukai (the alternate realm containing Soukaizan), Wataru recovered his memories, yet his conscience remained absent. To reclaim it, Kyuuseishu Wataru must journey again to battle the devils and save Soukaizan from ruin! To restore balance, hope, and destiny.
Chou Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru represents the third installment of SUNRISE"s Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru television series and is regarded as a remake of earlier Wataru titles. It premiered on October 2, 1997 and concluded September 24, 1998, airing every Thursday from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., totaling 51 episodes for the people today.
