As humanity advances, its technology keeps pace. Engineers have engineered machines called "Labors," released into the market and adopted by society for a variety of daily functions. Yet some offenders acquire these Labors, exploiting them for illicit purposes.
To counter this emerging threat, law‑enforcement agencies worldwide deploy "Patrol Labors," or Patlabors, to curb Labor‑related offenses. Freshly recruited officer Noa Izumi is assigned to a specialized Patlabor squad, where she receives her own robotic exosuit. She christens the unit "Alphonse" and, together with her teammates, strives to shield society from those who would weaponize this sophisticated technology.
As Izumi deepens her role in the team, she must also master balancing personal and occupational responsibilities with poise. She forms bonds with the distant Asuma Shinohara, co‑pilot Isao Oota, and other squad members while aiding them in thwarting conspiracies, labor uprisings, and supernatural threats.
