The tale opens when Hikaru encounters the extraterrestrials Lala, Prunce, and Fuwa while gazing at the nocturnal heavens. She discovers the Star Palace, where twelve Star Princesses of the constellations maintained cosmic equilibrium until an assault shattered their realm. Lala seeks legendary Precure heroes to aid in locating the dispersed Princess Star Color Pens and restore the princesses. When Fuwa falls into enemy hands, Hikaru vows to rescue her; a Star Color Pendant and a Star Color Pen materialize, granting her the power to become Cure Star. From that moment she dedicates herself to gathering the pens and nurturing Fuwa, in the process of restoring balance for the universe.
