In the lore of witches, reaching fifteen obliges a practitioner to attain independence and depart from home to pursue witchcraft studies. Makoto Kowata exemplifies this rite; she leaves her parents' residence in Yokohama to seek instruction. Joined by Chito, a black cat familiar, she sets off for Aomori—a locale prized by witches for its lush nature and magical resonance. Their new chapter begins as they reside with Makoto"s second cousins, Kei Kuramoto and his younger sister Chinatsu.
Though Makoto attends high school like most teens, her fanciful and quirky engagement with witchcraft distinguishes her from peers. From a meeting with an anthropomorphic dog seer to the unconventional spellwork taught by her elder sister Akane, her ordinary days are peppered with witchy quirks she shares with friends and family. Her journey, marked by moonlit rituals and whispered incantations, weaves a tapestry of wonder that inspires those around her to embrace the unseen and curious dreams for everyone.
