That honor grants its holder the power to summon the Great Spirit and mold reality as they wish.
One evening, late for class, Manta Oyamada—a typical middle‑schooler—opts to cut through the town cemetery. A solitary boy perched on a headstone notices him and invites Manta to gaze at the stars with "them." Realizing that "them" means the boy and his spectral companions, Manta bolts away in fright. Later, the boy reveals himself as You Asakura, a Shaman‑in‑training, and showcases his abilities by joining forces with the spirit of the six‑hundred‑year‑old samurai Amidamaru to rescue Manta from a gang of bullies. You bonds with Manta because he can perceive spirits, and together with Amidamaru they embark on a quest to help You achieve his dream of becoming the next Shaman King.
