Humans and demons represent two facets of a single reality, just as Assiah and Gehenna mirror each other in their own realms. The only bridge between these worlds is possession, a method familiar from haunted tales. Yet Satan, the sovereign of Gehenna, cannot secure an appropriate vessel and thus remains confined within his domain. Desperate to seize Assiah, he dispatches his son instead, hoping the boy will eventually mature into a host fit for the demon king"s control.
Ao no Exorcist centers on Rin Okumura, who seems like a typical, mildly mischievous high‑schooler—until demons suddenly attack him. His life is shattered when he learns he is actually Satan"s offspring and that his demonic father wants him to return so they can jointly conquer Assiah. Refusing to ally with the ruler of Gehenna, Rin resolves to train as an exorcist so he can protect Assiah together with his brother Yukio.
