Barsburg Empire's Military Academy is famed for forging elite warriors who secure triumphs for the realm. Pupils at the institution wield a power known as Zaiphon in combat, with the specific form of Zaiphon determined by each soldier"s disposition. Among them is Teito Klein, a standout trainee destined for greatness. Though mocked by all as a "sklave"—a German term meaning slave—and bereft of any recollection of his origins, he finds a friend in fellow cadet Mikage. While gearing up for the final assessment, Teito stumbles upon a grim revelation about his own past. An assassination plot against Ayanami, the high‑ranking official responsible for his father"s death, collapses; as a result Teito is confined and faces disciplinary action. Determined to see him thrive, Mikage aids his escape. Teito then seeks refuge at the Seventh District Church, where bishops welcome him. There he strives to slip past Ayanami and the military"s reach, hoping to recover his memories and uncover why he holds the power to alter the world"s destiny.
