Neuro Nogami is a demon who feeds on riddles. After devouring them all in his own world, the Underworld, he travels to Earth to find there the most thrilling and "tasty" riddle. He finds a girl named Yako Katsuragi, whose father died. The police claimed it was suicide, although Yako was absolutely convinced that it wasn"t. Neuro offers the girl a deal: if she helps him find and unravel riddles, he will help solve her father"s murder. Together they establish a detective agency. Yako wonders why Neuro chose her as his assistant and confidante, since all the glory will go to her. The demon only needs riddles to satisfy his hunger, because in the afterlife a solved riddle releases from its owner a huge amount of negative energy, which Neuro feeds on.
