Crimson Denizens and Rinne, entities from an alternate realm, aim to consume the cherished lives of humans. To reestablish the fragile equilibrium of reality, Flame Hazes pursue these beings relentlessly.
Unaware of such threats, Yuuji Sakai begins his morning as usual and walks to school. His routine takes an extraordinary turn when everyone around him suddenly freezes, leaving him the sole figure still able to move. A Rinne immediately starts devouring the souls nearby, and as it turns its gaze toward Yuuji, a Flame Haze with flaming crimson hair and a sword intervenes.
After mending the damage, she explains that Yuuji has become a Torch—a fragment of a deceased person destined to vanish from memory. Moreover, he is also a Mystes, a Torch that contains an unseen treasure. Before the flame fully extinguishes, a Crimson Denizen will attempt to seize the hidden wealth he carries, prompting the fiery hunter to keep watch over him. As Yuuji accepts his death, he decides to make the most of the remaining time.
He resolves to cherish moments, sharing kindness with classmates and documenting memories in a journal. Each day becomes an adventure where he confronts fear, embraces hope, and learns that ember illuminate darkness.
