Ten years ago, Yumeji Fujivara acquired a strange ability to sense the auras of dreams that people had seen the night before. Along with it came nightmares, in which the inhabitants of "that world" expressed displeasure to the outsider and threatened to do all sorts of things to him. Yumeji managed to cope with them, but he could no longer sleep normally. According to anime rules, his parents were away; the young man lives in the house of his childhood friend Ishana Tatibana, who knows about the gift and even tries to study it. Other close friends also know of it: members of the literary club that Yumeji attends, trying to hone his skills and start a writing career. But soon, as expected, the hero realized that reality is far scarier and more exciting than the fruits of imagination! It happened that Yumeji first plunged into a nightmare in broad daylight, right on a quiet city street. In the reality that emerged at the edge of dimensions, John Doe, one of the dream‑world demons, told the boy that he had long been watching his body in order to infiltrate the living world. And if the poor guy disappeared, a strange girl named Merry Nightmare appeared nearby, demanding that everyone present show her the way home. After a brief but intense discussion, John Doe proudly withdrew, and Yumeji returned with Merry to the real world, realizing that he would now have to find his way. Yet why this thought does not frighten him, and why it seems that it should be so?
