Legendary tales speak of youngsters vanishing near the riverbank. Those accounts have tormented Otoha since her companion Jiro vanished when she was seven, and now she returns to her native town to report on the conflict between authorities and rebels. When she is cut off from her unit, Otoha senses a presence guiding her further into the town's hidden backstreets in the dark, silent, shadowy streets alone.
