When the world is at the height of the industrial revolution, a monster suddenly appears. It can only be defeated by piercing its heart hidden beneath a layer of steel. From one bite, people become infected and turn into aggressive undead — kabane. On the Far Eastern island of Hinomoto, people built special stations for protection against these monsters, between which they travel using a steam armored locomotive. At the Aragane station lives Ikoma, a guy who helped build the locomotive. To defeat the monsters, he created his own weapon. One day he meets a girl released from mandatory inspection. At night they see that the locomotive has gone out of control, its crew turned into monsters, and kabane attack the station. However, this was exactly the opportunity Ikoma had been waiting for.
