Dicloniuses are a secondary, mutated branch of humans that seem to have been chosen by God itself to bring about the end of humanity. They differ from ordinary people by small horns on their heads and by possessing a kind of "sixth sense" that grants them telekinetic abilities. It is precisely because of this dangerous power that the government hunts them down and places them in special laboratories where they are subjected to cruel experiments. Lucy is a young, mentally unstable diclonius who manages to free herself from the restraints that bind her and attempts to escape, brutally killing laboratory guards along the way. Only by shooting her in the head with a large‑caliber weapon, whose bullet she cannot deflect in time, did the guards manage to inflict damage on her. However, Lucy survives by falling off a cliff into the ocean and drifting for some time until two young men, Kota and Yuka, find her on a beach. The headshot caused memory loss and speech dysfunction: the only thing she can say is the interjection "nyu," after which the finders named her. In the end, Kota takes Lucy to his home and lets her live there… Yet it seems that Lucy"s dark side has not disappeared anywhere…
