Death need not be the final curtain; rebirth is possible, but only by mastering the contest orchestrated by the dark orb known as Gantz. While returning home to honor his younger brother's birthday, the courageous and compassionate student Masaru Katou is brutally stabbed. He awakens in a cramped chamber overlooking Tokyo's skyline, and he discovers he is not alone. Before he can process the surreal scene, a mysterious figure hands him a firearm and transports him to central Osaka. Their mission is singular: eliminate any extraterrestrial creature that appears. Masaru is joined by the seasoned Yoshikazu Suzuki, the radiant idol Reika Shimohira, and the stoic yet battle-hardened Jouichirou Nishi.
