In 1945, World War II reached its zenith. While Japanese metropolises were scorched by incendiary raids and the country was squeezed by American troops, Japan teetered under crushing strain. Gen Nakaoka, a daring and spirited youth, resided in Hiroshima. Facing wartime shortages and barely keeping afloat, Gen and his kin clung to the hope that hostilities would soon cease with Japan"s impending defeat, sparing their city. Yet, unknown to them, destiny was already fixed by the imminent detonation of "Little Boy," an American atomic device destined to unleash a ruinous disaster that would forever alter Japanese society.
