Digimon Xros Wars: Toki wo Kakeru Shounen Hunter-tachi unfolds a year after Bagramon and allies have been defeated. Since that time, Taiki Kudou and Yuu Amano have assembled a basketball squad with Yuu"s classmate, Tagiru Akashi. One day, Tagiru stumbles upon a bizarre zone named DigiQuartz, an unstable domain that lies between the human and digital realms. He soon learns that children worldwide have acquired Xros Loaders along with Digimon partners to join a contest known as the 'Digimon Hunt'.
Digimon that drift from the digital realm into DigiQuartz can feed on negative emotions leaking from the human world. This nourishment strengthens them, but at the cost of extreme aggression. Consequently, Digimon Hunters must intervene to prevent these creatures from wreaking havoc on Earth. Accompanied by the mischievous Gumdramon, Tagiru strives to become the foremost Digimon Hunter, all while remaining unaware of Taiki and Yuu"s former Digimon ties. Yet a dark presence emerged with DigiQuartz"s creation, and the young Hunters will soon discover that the Digimon Hunt is far more than a simple game... Through trials and bonds, they discover that bravery and empathy can calm even the most ferocious Digimon.
