In 2020, technology permeated every corner of the globe. All digital gadgets were linked through a single vast network that carried data across the world. Unseen by people, this network had become a habitat for creatures called Digimon.
The story follows fifth‑grade student Taichi Yagami, who is getting ready for a summer camp when odd glitches start appearing in Tokyo; several electronic systems begin to malfunction. He learns that his sister and mother are stuck on a runaway train, so he hurries to the nearest station. Suddenly Taichi is whisked into another realm where he encounters a peculiar beast named Agumon, who somehow already knows his name. Taichi also obtains an unusual gadget called a Digivice, which lets him interact with the non‑digital world.
Taichi realizes he is inside the Network, and virus‑like Digimon are assaulting the sectors that uphold Tokyo"s electronic infrastructure. It falls to him and his new ally Agumon to halt these cyber‑attacks before the entire world faces danger from mischievous Digimon.
