The menace of the Dead Moon Circus still shadows Usagi Tsukino and her Sailor Guardians. Cornered, Earth sinks deeper into gloom as nightmares expand. The Outer Sailor Guardians detect trouble when young Hotaru Tomoe ages swiftly after the total solar eclipse. Thinking their prince and princess are endangered, the four revive their powers again to regroup and support their comrades.
Because of the eclipse"s effect, Usagi and Mamoru Chiba grow weaker, draining their abilities. Lacking a leader, the Guardians are uncertain of next steps. Annoyed by this, Hotaru and Chibiusa depart alone to face the Amazoness Quartet, who have driven most of the turmoil. With Queen Nehelenia"s release imminent, the Sailor Guardians race against time to halt her.
