Usagi Tsukino is a typical pupil who frequently falls short on her exams and often weeps. Suddenly, her ordinary routine is disrupted when she rescues a feline bearing a crescent moon on its forehead from peril. The cat, called Luna, later discloses that their encounter was intentional: Usagi is fated to become Sailor Moon, a celestial protector empowered to defend Earth. Armed with an enchanted brooch that triggers her transformation, she must wield these abilities to shield the metropolis from malevolent energy‑stealing beasts dispatched by Queen Beryl of the Dark Kingdom.
Yet mastering her newfound powers and battling foes are not her sole concerns. She must locate the vanished princess of the Moon Kingdom, recruit the remaining Sailor Guardians, and recover the Legendary Silver Crystal to avert planetary ruin and ensure the safety of all living beings on Earth in the face of imminent catastrophe for everyone.
