When a cluster of shooting stars appears across the night sky, Rinko Kougyoku and her friend Minami each whisper a wish.
What they truly witnessed were not celestial bodies but "Jewel Charms" descending to Earth. These charms had been fashioned by three sorcerers from the enchanted realm of Jewel Land, each one containing a native Jewelpets. Though these pets can roam freely in their natural form, the sorcerers occasionally transform them into charms for easier transport. Most Jewelpets accept this convenience, but a mischievous bunny named Ruby feels suffocated and plots an escape.
One day the sorcerers decide to relocate the Jewelpets, entrusting a pelican with the task of delivering them to the Dream Forest. All proceeds smoothly until a fierce gust disorients the bird, causing it to drop every charm in its grasp. Instead of reaching the Dream Forest, all Jewelpets except Ruby tumble onto Rinko"s hometown on Earth. A rescue mission is required, and because Ruby has been the most unruly, she is chosen to travel to Earth.
When Ruby lands on Earth as a crimson Jewel Charm, she slips into Rinko"s glass of water, launching an unforeseen adventure. Together, Rinko, Minami, and Ruby form a pact to recover every fallen charm, meeting strange beings and gaining countless allies along the journey. Will they succeed in returning all Jewelpets home, or will Earth prove to be far more perilous than they imagined?
