The initial section clears lingering issues from the SuperS arc and welcomes back the Outer Senshi—Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna, and Hotaru, who has been reborn as a child.
The following part shows Usagi saying goodbye to Mamoru, who departs for America to pursue studies. Concurrently, the Three Lights emerge—a trio of male idols named Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten. The antagonist is Galaxia, a woman intent on conquering the galaxy by amassing human Star Seeds. Three new Senshi, the Sailor Starlights, arrive with motives to halt Galaxia, yet they act independently of Sailor Moon"s aid. Their mission is to protect the universe from darkness.
