Beneath the glossy façade, Koudo Ikusei Senior High School appears to be a dreamland. Its pupils revel in unrivaled liberty, and the institution ranks among Japan"s best. Yet beneath this sheen lies a harsher truth: four tiers, labeled A to D, are stratified by performance, and only the upper echelons receive perks.
Kiyotaka Ayanokouji belongs to Class D, the school"s dumping ground for its weakest. There he encounters the aloof Suzune Horikita, convinced she was mistakenly placed in D and determined to ascend all the way to A, alongside the affable class idol Kikyou Kushida, whose goal is to amass as many friendships as possible in the competitive environment.
Class status is fixed, yet rankings can shift; lower‑tier students may rise by outperforming higher ones. In Class D, no limits exist on tactics to advance. The school's atmosphere scrutinizes every achievement, rewarding or punishing accordingly. Despite this harshness, a group from Class D sees an opportunity to climb. They must navigate social dynamics, leverage hidden strengths, and outmaneuver rivals who will stop at nothing. Will they succeed?
