Tomoya Okazaki is a jaded misfit who shows no drive as he drags through high school. In his youth, a loss pushed his father into drinking and left him to be ignored. Still, genuine connection can be a blessing, as Tomoya discovers when he encounters the mysterious Nagisa Furukawa. The quirky girl extends a hand of friendship, but he turns it away, treating the gesture as nothing special. Yet, as he soon finds himself meeting Nagisa repeatedly at school, Tomoya lets go of his indifference and becomes friends with her.
When he learns that Nagisa wants to restore the Drama Club, Tomoya resolves to abandon his aloofness toward everyday joys and commits himself to helping her realize that goal. What begins as a simple companionship may evolve into something far more profound, intimate, and life‑shaping. As the duo confront various trials and setbacks, Tomoya and Nagisa gradually accept the difficulties of existence. Their shared resilience strengthens their bond, and they find hope even in the bleakest moments every day.
