The plot centers on a love story (or more precisely, the journey toward finding it) between two young people who met in a hospital during prolonged treatment. The protagonist, Yuichi, who suffers from hepatitis, is at the heart of the narrative. Meeting Rika—who has spent most of her life in the hospital because of a severe heart condition—brings previously unknown passions into his life.
