Yugo Hachiken is a city dweller and graduate of an elite private academy in Sapporo. Instead of finishing his studies at a prestigious high school, he enrolls in an agricultural school located on Hokkaido. Having settled into the dormitory, he hoped to easily outshine his less advanced classmates. However, this school turned out to be very different from what he expected. First of all, here knowledge is not valued; rather, the ability to work with one's hands is prized. Moreover, all of the other students, who grew up in villages, possess far greater knowledge in agriculture and animal husbandry. Additionally, the school lacks humanities clubs, and even our hero, who is far from fond of physical education, is forced to join a sports section. Among his classmates, who have been accustomed to farm life since childhood, Yugo Hachiken—who has no connection to agriculture at all—seems completely out of place. His classmates find it strange that he chose Ezo, where every day one has to get up at five in the morning and perform hard labor. Yet Yugo speaks little and unwillingly about himself. When asked why he decided to enroll specifically at Ezo, he answers that it was because of the dorm room. But everything is not as simple as it seems.
