Ichirou Inuyashiki, a 58‑year‑old husband and father, is enduring a hard stretch of life. While his recurring back pain aches, nothing pains him more than the cold indifference and disdain from his wife and children. Still, he finds comfort in Hanako, a neglected Shiba Inu that he brings home as a pet. His world crumbles when a routine check‑up shows stomach cancer, giving him only three months to live. He tries to stay resolute, but the family's apathy drives him into a breakdown. Escaping to a nearby field, he hugs his dog and cries—until a mysterious silhouette appears before him.
A sudden blaze of light engulfs him, and he is swallowed by swirling smoke and dust. When consciousness returns, he notices a shock: he has been reborn as a mechanized warrior, his former flesh replaced by armor that still bears the skin of his old body. Though stunned, compassionate Ichirou immediately channels his new abilities to rescue someone in peril, a deed that fills him with joy and renewed hope.
Yet the source of these uncanny powers remains unknown. Who stood at the blast site, and will that figure be as benevolent toward Ichirou when wielding such a perilous gift? His fate now hangs in the balance of unknown forces.
