The story begins when the king"s advisor launches a witch hunt, which in turn targets dark knights and sorceresses who, with their extraordinary abilities, protect ordinary people. One of these dark sorceresses is condemned to be burned at the stake, but before her execution she manages to give birth to a child, whom they name Leon Lewis. The child is rescued by his father, one of the dark knights; the poor child would never have had the chance to see his mother. Leon must, upon reaching adulthood, become the heir of the golden knight"s armor and one of the defenders of the people of Valiante. Meanwhile, another heir to a similar armor was born within the walls of the royal palace in the family of the king of that country.
