The series unfolds in a far‑future epoch where Earth has split into two halves. The southern half is displaced to an alternate realm while those in the northern half can transform into beast‑like humanoids. Eventually, the southern peoples, commanded by Uranus, launch an assault on the Beasts who roam the northern skies.
The trio of Beasts—Wan Derbard (Wan Dabadadatta) from the Tiger Clan, Bud Mint (Baado Mint) of the Bird Tribe, and Mei Mer (Mei Mah) from the Mermaid Sect—are captured along with Mei Mer"s ally Tuttle Millen (Mekka Mannen, also a Mermaid). They escape with the aid of a young girl called Yuuni Charm Password. Together they pursue Gaia, which they think is an extraordinary treasure, yet they are chased by Uranus"s henchmen: V‑Darn the cruel mage‑knight, V‑Sion the warrior woman, and Akumako, V‑Darn"s cruel imp‑like partner in the deep shadowed valleys.
