Chizuru, a sunny girl who has always struggled with romance, intends to end things with her boyfriend Yuudai because he never seems to return her affection. Yet when she reaches what she believes will be their last outing, Yuudai offers her a present that turns out to be an energetic and mischievous little donkey. He had hoped this day would finally give him the courage to reveal how deeply he feels for Chizuru, but a string of misunderstandings threatens to separate them forever. With the lively donkey attempting to repair their bond, while the world around them seems to blur, both Chizuru and Yuudai question whether they can love and be loved in return as they navigate their uncertain future together.
