At thirteen, Kiki the apprentice witch must spend a year alone in a far‑off town to qualify as a full witch. She leaves family and friends, taking flight on her broomstick with the black cat Jiji to explore the wider world. Upon arriving in the seaside village of Koriko, Kiki finds herself unable to settle; she roams streets without a home until Osono offers lodging in return for delivering goods to her modest bakery. Soon Kiki launches a broom‑based courier venture, marking the start of her independence. As she seeks belonging among locals, Kiki gathers fresh adventures and learns what true responsibility really means. Her journey teaches her that magic thrives not just in spells but in caring for others and staying true to oneself while mastering her own destiny today.
