The sinister organization Inferno clears the path to power, eliminating American mafia bosses one by one with the hands of Phantom – a legendary killer who never fails. Apart from his name, little is known about the spectral assassin, because those who have seen him at work will not speak. But what is unknown to seasoned gangsters and omnipresent intelligence services, a young Japanese man named Raiji learns by accident while wandering alone across the States. He would have been an unwilling witness in heaven, but the boss overseeing the operation stopped Phantom at the last moment… The bosses of Inferno liked Raiji"s conduct before death and gave him a second chance. After washing his mind clean and erasing his memory, the new masters decided that quick reflexes and a will to live would make him an excellent operative. So when Raiji woke up, not remembering himself in some place, a sweet girl named Ain ("First") appeared before him and offered to play a survival game. That was the legendary Phantom. But our hero turned out not to be a rag, passing the final exam with dignity (though his opponent, of course, yielded). Now the newcomer received the code name Tzvai ("Second") and was enrolled with Ain as an intern. Both of them, though they lost their memory, did not lose their minds and soon realized that such a life could not last long. The only question remained – wait or shoot first?
