Subaru loves gazing at the night sky, so when she opens her school"s observatory door one afternoon she expects a clear view of stars but instead discovers an expansive indoor garden. A boy named Minato greets her, speaking in odd riddles and then urging her to leave. As if the morning couldn't get stranger, Subaru stumbles upon a peculiar blob‑shaped creature that snatches her compass and drags her into a club room where girls are dressed in witch costumes.
In the circle, Subaru spots her friend Aoi. Even though Aoi protests, Subaru chooses to stay with the club. Soon she receives a bizarre staff that resembles a small automobile and is transformed by the club"s "president," the same blob from earlier, who turns out to be a Pleiadian. Aoi and teammates Itsuki, Hikaru, and Nanako have been hunting for pieces of a spaceship engine that the Pleiadian used to travel, hoping to send it home. Yet these girls are not the only ones after those fragments.
