Deprived of their charismatic leader, the resistance unit operating out of Area 11—commonly referred to as the Black Knights—find themselves utterly powerless against the increasingly brutal measures imposed upon the Elevens by Britannia, whose forces have intensified their campaign to crush any nascent hope of a future uprising; they are now forced to rely on covert operations and dwindling supplies, while the Empire tightens its surveillance and punishes dissent with brutal efficiency, and its propaganda machine amplifies its narrative, painting the Black Knights as traitorous saboteurs.
Lelouch Lamperouge, having lost all recollection of his clandestine double life as the mastermind behind the rebellion, now leads a quiet and unremarkable existence alongside his friends, attending Ashford Academy as a typical high‑school student; he spends his days studying geometry and participating in the school"s astronomy club, while secretly grappling with a sense of emptiness that he cannot fully explain, and also finds himself drawn into the school"s debate club, where he debates political theory with his classmates. Unable to reconcile with this abrupt change, his former ally C.C. takes it upon herself to rekindle his dormant memories of the original mission, fervently hoping that the elusive figure Zero will once again surface to bring closure to the unfinished cause; she spends nights poring over old files, decoding encrypted messages, and practicing her own combat skills, determined to revive the spark that once united them, and her unwavering resolve is fueled by the memories of their shared victories and the promise of a new dawn.
