Fifteen‑year‑old Ori Kagami grew up in a temple orphanage and was used to seeing the strange, for Zen Buddhism, which his "senior brothers" practice, constantly repeats that the world is not what it seems. But one day he saw something that fundamentally shook his view of the world. A guardian spirit in the form of a cat summoned Ori to go into the temple at night, where he witnessed a secret resurrection ritual of a young schoolgirl; meanwhile the monks called the young abbot Keiseya the Guardian, and the girl the Executor. Thus Makina Hosimura, killed by sikabane—"undead," walking corpses—became the same and entered an unbreakable pact with the monks. She kills exactly 108 sikabane (this number symbolizes all existence in Buddhism) and after that attains eternal peace in the heavens. Thus begins the Red Chronicle of the Undead Princess, in which Makina, with Keiseya"s spiritual support and the fiery backing of two loyal MAC M11 (by Buddha"s will with endless ammunition), fights zombies, demons, vampires and other evil spirits. And Ori, having decided to leave the temple and lead a secular life, encounters the princess "for work" and realizes that he is connected to her much deeper than he would like. According to the authors, "Red Chronicle" is the first part of a duology, so the adventures are just beginning.
