For millennia after its creation, humanity depended on written symbols to convey thoughts across generations. As centuries passed and technology proliferated, the art of writing – and communication as a whole – declined until it existed only on mobile phones and computer screens. Seizing this vulnerability, sorcerer Sogan Kenzaki began infecting words with the Nesta Virus, animating them into monsters called MJBK (Menace of Japanese with Biological Kinetic energy) that roam the streets, corrupting text and threatening to erase language itself.
In response, the Division of EArth Verbalism Ability (DEAVA) assembled a team of adolescents gifted in "Verbalism." They pilot vector rigs that merge into the mech suits known as Aquarions. DEAVA trains Verbalists with ancient scripts and modern tech to master language for humanity. The unpredictable wildcard is a self‑proclaimed "savior," a young heir of famed calligrapher Akira Kaibuki, who must lead the charge against the word‑borne menace.
