All of the countryside stops at noon to observe a rare solar eclipse that is said to let ordinary people glimpse Mushi. Unable to look away, the atmosphere swells with amazement and curiosity—but those familiar with Mushi are already planning for what follows the eclipse.
Following a forecast from Tanyuu Karibusa, the cursed chronicler, Mushishi Ginko lands in a terribly unlucky agrarian hamlet. Right after the eclipse, an odd black cloud gathers overhead and once again shrouds the sun. Believing it to be the doing of a Mushi called Hihami, Ginko strives to free the hamlet from endless gloom. Yet it appears that not every villager is ready to welcome daylight again, in the quiet night, their hearts beat with a mixture of hope still and dread.
