Ichiro Hanada is a restless young boy who lives with his parents, sister and grandfather in a countryside village. He constantly gets into trouble, teasing his sister or making rude remarks to others. As a result, his mother repeatedly scolds him and even the neighbors complain from time to time about how unruly he can be.
One afternoon, after pulling a terrible prank, Ichiro bolts into the streets while his mother chases him. He snatches a nearby bicycle and takes a perilous route, eventually being struck by a truck. Miraculously he survives the crash, needing nine stitches on the back of his head and a bald patch from the operation. Yet the near‑fatal incident grants him the power to see ghosts—the one thing he never wanted.
Because Ichiro is the only person who can communicate with them, several recently deceased spirits approach him, asking for help to carry out their final wishes before reaching enlightenment. Each journey with a ghost teaches the curious boy a new lesson, gradually making him wiser. He gains empathy and humility. His deeply perspective broadens with each case.
