Young Ko Itinomiy, a wealthy heir and financial genius, has found a new meaning of existence by rejecting the so-called "common sense" and the conventions of modern society. For several months now he has settled under a bridge over the Arakawa River together with his beloved girlfriend Nino and an entire community of hippies and eccentrics, who, as it turns out, can stand up for themselves before a soulless civilization! By entering into a peculiar silent agreement with his stern and domineering father, the hero continues to live in nature"s embrace, rejoicing each new day even if he does not know what it will bring him… Having freed himself from the need to constantly wear a mask, be hypocritical, and say only what is expected of him, Ko has become a much better person while remaining himself. Perhaps this is what Nino, a simple Japanese vanguard woman, saw in him. Life is too short to waste on conventions, and human relationships are too precious and wonderful to spoil with lies – that is the lesson the river community tries to give to the main hero… and to us.
