To avert the disaster known as the Grand Fall, Rid Hershel together with allies Farah, Keel and Meredy have secured Inferia"s three supreme spirits (called "Craymels" in the game). While heading toward Mount Farlos, Rid is seized by the hunter Marone Blucarno, forcing the group to divert to Belcarnu, an isolated archipelago beyond Inferia"s principal cities. A string of quests keeps them on the islands, where a more immediate danger to Inferia lies dormant waiting for world to awaken while darkness gathers.
